Day by day since 1701, nothing is left to chance...
Following the steps of his ancestors, Bernard Coste has been managing the Domaine Montrose vineyard with passion for 25 years, from vine cultivation to wine making. For 25 years his goal hasn't change: create pleasure wine!
Many investments have been made since the 1980’s to acquire the latest devices in production techniques while preserving traditional knowledge. All the steps leading to the making of great wines have been successfully achieved:
 |
- Vineyard re-planting with quality grapes,
- Winery restoration,
- Acquisition of high technological innovations: tread the cap of grape skin robot, thermo regulated stainless steel tank, pneumatic press, destemmer, deposit form the must filter…
- Setting up of a bottling chain on the estate
- Maturing in oak barrel for our best cru.
|
But these innovations would be meaningless if not animated by a brilliant wine fanatic team anxious to do their best.
Between tradition and modernity...
At the Domaine Montrose we respect the environment and believe in reasoned viticulture based on organic fertilizer and plant compost. The best additives to grow our grapes are sun and rain.
During harvest time, white grapes need to be gathered at night to preserve aroma in full and prevent sun’s oxidation. Whites and red are preserved from the heat from picking up to the moment they are stored thanks to a refrigerated bin. The thermo regulated vinification vat and bottling storage are maintained to low temperature. In this way, wines keep their original flavour. |
 |
For vinification we use ancestral knowledge modernized by technology. For example, “tread the cap of grape skin robot” is a device which mixes the grapes in the juice as our ancestors from burgundy used to do with their feet.
Today, the quality of the bottles we produce in the Montrose winery is a reward for all our team. But be sure that the next millesime will be even better
